Players with some experience are assured a warm welcome at Honiton Band (sometimes referred to as the ‘senior band’). We currently have a few vacancies around the band, and are particularly keen to hear from Bb bass, bass trombone, baritone and soprano cornet players; however, we’re always keen to welcome new players on their existing instrument. Our Musical Director arrived in the band as a fifth solo cornet!
We can offer a friendly and encouraging community in which to develop your skills, as well as a varied and exciting repertoire of music. The band has a good stock of instruments that it is able to lend to members, and our MD is keen to work with members to help them reach their goals. As a ‘non-contesting’ and community-based band, we also welcome our members playing with other bands alongside membership of Honiton, and nurture strong relationships with other bands in the region.
It’s a cliché, but Honiton Band really is a family, and we’re proud of the welcome that we offer new members. Our weekly rehearsals (on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm, held at Honiton Family Church) offer time to catch up and socialise alongside a focus on high-quality ensemble playing, and many of our members have become close friends outside of the bandroom.
